Joe Basile

Community Energy Project Manager

After visiting and recreating in Wallowa County for many years, Joe and his wife, Debbie, finally pulled the plug and moved to Joseph in October 2018. Joe was born and raised in a small community in New York and began his career in the power generation industry with six years in the US Navy nuclear program. Joe and his family have resided in eastern Oregon for 30 years, with their two sons growing up in Heppner. Joe’s background includes more than 35 years in nuclear, coal, and natural gas-fired facilities for both utility and independent power companies holding various positions in operations, maintenance, and management.

With Joe’s interest in distributed renewable energy development and his passion for the well-being of eastern Oregon’s rural communities, Joe is very excited to have joined the Wallowa Resources team that has been long working towards these goals.

Joe, Debbie, and their “Little Girl”, Josie (a red and white border collie), enjoy all outdoor activities, including backpacking, hunting, camping, fishing, cycling, and flying. Joe is an instrument-rated commercial pilot and enjoys the rich aviation history of Wallowa County and its active general aviation community.
